We’re growing the team!
Join the Chitown Subarus moderator team
We’re ready to jump in to 2021 with all the exciting events, meets, cruises, and volunteer activities. In order to do that, we need to grow our leadership team. Think you might be a good fit? Check out some of what we’re looking for below and fill out the short form to submit your interest.
Volunteer positions we’re opening:
Weekend event moderator - You’d be in charge of planning and running events on the weekends. This could be cruises, mini meets, coordinating CTS parking at other local car meets, etc.
Merch moderator - You get to own and manage the official Chitown Subarus merch. Promote gear, manage inventory, researching new merch ideas, setting up and managing the merch table at bigger events. This is a hefty job, but you’ll have help.
Blog/social media - Did you know we have a blog? Do you remember YOHB? Yeah, it’s been a while. We’re looking for someone to bring our blog and social media postings back to life.
??? - Do you have something special worth bringing to the team? We’d love to hear it.
Here’s what we’re looking for in a moderator:
You have a passion for Subarus and the Subaru community
You attend quite a few Chitown Subarus events per year (requirement varies based on the position)
You’re the type of person who can form a plan based on an idea
You look for ways to make things better, iterate, improve
You work well in a team
You’re a great problem solver
You are a good communicator
Bonus points for:
You’ve moderated other facebook groups, forums, etc
You’ve run or been a part of a team that has run a local community group
You’ve coordinated events (do you love planning parties? have you coordinated team events at your work? Have you organized a car meet?)
The boring part:
This is purely a volunteer position. No one on the CTS leadership team gets paid for what we do. We all do this because we love the greater Chicagoland Subaru community!
This is a time commitment, you will need to be able to commit to a few hours here and there to doing CTS things such as member requests, moderating posts, and planning, coordinating or assisting with events.
You must be in good reputation standing and maintain it. While we’re a pretty fun and light hearted group, members of the CTS leadership team are a representation of the Chitown Subarus community and our actions reflect back on the group. This includes interactions with surrounding businesses, local car meets & events, inappropriate behavior in other facebook groups, and posting illegal activities on social media
To be totally honest, the perks are “meh” at best - but for good reason. We pay full price for our shirts and stickers just like everyone else because we genuinely agree that the money goes to the right place, there’s no free services, special treatment, or admin bribes. We do try to find ways to reward ourselves like being able to attend the Chicago Auto Show media day, being among the first to hear about upcoming events, early access to Subaru Speed Expo driver tickets, or even lobbying for your favorite color to be included in the next CTS t-shirt batch (hello Adam green).
